Top 10 Things to Pack in Your Hospital Bag
  1. Robe
    • You will want something loose and light to wear after delivery and also something that you feel comfortable with having your picture taken in. I bought this robe and I loved it. The fabric is soft and so comfortable that I am still using and love it.
  2. Comfy Clothes
    • You are going to want to wear something baggy for when you go home. I bought these pants because they were able to fit over all of the padding that I was wearing and I got black just in case I leaked at all.
  3. Nursing Bra/Tank Top
    • I got these tank tops for sleeping and wearing under my shirts because it was form fitting and helped hold everything where it's supposed to be.
  4. Belly Bandit
    • I wore this the next day after giving birth. I used the size calculator off of their website to see what size I needed. I got the small size and I was able to get it on using the largest hoops right after delivering. After wearing it for a couple of weeks I was able to get it to fit on the smallest size. It really helped get me back to my prepregnancy body.
  5. Cell Phone Charger
    • Don't forget to bring a charger for your cell phone. You are going to want to listen to your music while in labor to set the mood and after delivery you are going to want to take pictures overload so you want to make sure your cell phone is charged and ready for action.
  6. Travel Shampoo, Conditioner, and Soap
    • If you have to stay at the hospital for an extra day like we did, you will want to take a shower just to feel human again. Taking a shower really does make a big difference. Bringing these small travel size shampoo, conditioner, and soap won't take up too much room in your suit case.
  7. Flip Flops
    • You never know how clean those hospital showers are so wearing flip flops keeps you from having to walk around bare foot.
  8. Snacks (for husband)
    • You are not going to be able to eat while in labor but that doesn't mean that your husband should fast with you. There is always vending machines at hospitals but I wanted to bring something that is healthy and filling. These did the job.
  9. Baby's Going Home Outfit
    • I loved this little going home outfit. It was perfect for being able to easily get her into the car seat and was so soft and comfortable for her on the ride home.
  10. Infant Car Seat
    • I bought this car seat because I knew we were going to have our daughter in the summer. With this car seat it has raised paneling on the back of the seat so even on hot days her back doesn't get sweaty.

First Week Home

When we got home we introduced the dogs to our daughter. They were skeptical of her and were a little afraid. They had never seen a baby before and it was funny because every time she moved they would jump. They eventually warmed up to her once they got to investigate her a little bit. The cats on the other hand didn't want anything to do with her. Later that evening we got a call from the hospital with the results of her bilirubin test she had gotten that morning. Her results were worse than they were the day before and she was now at the level where she needed phototherapy. Someone from the hospital drove to our house that night and dropped off a  biliblanket.  Biliblankets are used for  phototherapy that helps break down high levels of bilirubin in the bloodstream. It  exerts a blue/white light of varying intensity that permeates through a light fabric. The baby is then placed on the blanket  during treatment. We were instructed to keep her on it as much as we could over the

From The Beginning

Let me start by thanking you for listening to my story and letting me share my experiences with you.  I will start my story letting you know a little bit on how my husband and I met. Our story began back in 2007 when we were both in high school. We met in history class our junior year in high school. He was a laid-back skateboarder and I was an angsty teen who was into photography and music. It was a project for my photography class that brought us together. We dated all through high school and in college we moved in together. During our time in college we adopted 2 cats (female- mixed breed, male- flame point siamese) and 2 dogs (female & male- husky and malamute mix). Shortly after graduating with our bachelor's degrees at Wichita State University we got engaged. My husband went back to college to get his master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and I worked my way up at a local credit union in town. Fast forward to now, we have been married for two years and needl

Pregnancy- Third Trimester

By this time I was starting to have a definite baby bump and my symptoms were starting to get a little more noticeable. I was feeling the back aches and the heartburn but I was also feeling the good ones too like the stronger movements of her kicks. My heartburn had started to get so bad that I had to keep a stash of tums with me at all times. I was eating them like they were candy. To help with my back aches I used a heating pad  during the day and at night I slept with a body pillow . I really liked the U shape of this body pillow and it was also very soft and fluffy but was still very supportive for my hips and back.  Around this time I was clearly showing enough that customers at work felt comfortable  about assuming I was pregnant. The biggest question people had for me was if my husband and I had picked out a name yet. My husband and I are somewhat of procrastinators. We had been looking at names but we didn't really find anything that we both liked. It wasn't until
